As we watch the national health care debacle unfold .. it is easy to understand that a government of the people, by the people, for the people is no longer relevant … especially to the Democrats and this administration.
Sen. Ben Nelson (D. Neb) held out and held out and held out from agreeing to cast a vote for the health care bill … saying he could not agree with one thing or another. What it was he couldn’t agree with obviously had no importance whatsoever.
What was important was he held the 60th vote .. the magical number needed to pass the health care bill in the Senate.
Nelson of course knew that. He also knew all he had to do was hold out and the treasures would begin to come in .. for him.
Of course .. while holding out.. Obama had to first threaten him with losing the base in his state. That didn’t phase Nelson. He held the winning hand and knew it.
Hold out long enough .. that winning hand will bring in a landfall… and it did as far as Nelson was concerned.
It was at least enough to buy his vote.
The simple fact that over 60% of Americans are against this bill and have let Washington know that in every way possible is not relevant.
The fact that these people in Washington were voted by the people to work for what is best for the people is not relevant.
The simple fact that Obama demands a health care bill passed for his own bragging rights and that Pelosi has said she will sign anything.. just give her a bill.. so Obama can do the same thing .. is ridiculous.
We no longer have a repersentative government in Washington. It has been heading this way for years of course but this administration seems to have finallytaken it over the cliff.
Of the people , by the people, for the people.
Vote them all out .. people. That is our only hope.
