In 1974 the first discovery was made of the now famed terra cotta warriors that were most likely commissioned by Emperor Qin Shihuang .. China’s first Emporer … to protect him in the afterlife.
They were found buried in the Emporer’s tomb.
Standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 and a half feet tall, the life size statues including horses and carriages …. were first discovered by some farmers working the fields.
A new dig has begun .. uncovering more of the 7000 warriors and company thought to be buried.
The warriors are a fascinating story and an even more fascinating feat for how many there are and the fact that every statue …every face .. is different. Just as fascinating is how many of them have already been uncovered and the display they offer in the museum which has been built around them.
Visit the site .. and you will understand the draw of the Terra Cotta Warriors.
It would make a trip to China well worth it to be able to see them in person.
