Obama is supposed to be for the little guy.. right?

General Motors UAW employees were asked to give concessions in the battle for General Motors’ survival.  The sad thing is no matter what …General Motors will not survive.  Obama Motors will take over… already has of course.

In the meantime …. the UAW employees were asked to give concessions.

What were they?

First .. 14 plants will be closed that the UAW was not told about.  Imports from China will not be stopped eliminating 21.000 union jobs here.

 Cost-of-living adjustments and performance bonuses for UAW workers are canceled throughout the contract and one paid holiday, Easter Monday, in 2010 and 2011, is eliminated.

Tuition assistance for UAW workers is suspended for at least a year for all current and retired employees.

Dental and vision coverage and some prescription drugs for hourly retirees is eliminated, including erectile dysfunction medication.

Low-income retirees who previously had no co-pay must now make an $11 monthly co-pay. 

GM UAW employees will no longer be paid for unused vacation.

Breaks will be shortened and overtime rules tightened.

Also .. all rights to strike are forfeited until 1015.

Five Delphi plants, including Saginaw Steering and Grand Rapids Pow ertrain Systems, will be transferredto GM owner ship… in other words.. taken over by Obama.   The Treasury Department had blocked the sale of Delphi’s steering operations to GM. 

UAW workers can get $20,000 in cash to retire and a $25,000 vehicle voucher.

Workers with more than 20 years can get $115,000 in cash and $25,000 vehicle voucher to quit early.

Cars made in China, Japan, Korea and Mexico will be imported here … BRANDED as General Motors… which is the ultimate in insults to that great name… which never ever made a car ouside of the country in which it was sold.

That Obama would take that name and degrade it so is the ultimate in arrogance.

With all this happening …  tell me how Obama is taking care of the “little guy”… and what about Gettelfinger.. UAW head?  Where is he in all of this?  He will get a cut of the company of course.. his thank you for his cooperation in giving his guys up to Obama.

All those Obama promises … they were always nothing but lies.  Is there anyone left out there who does not yet know that?

Gettelfinger’s honor comes at the expense of the hourly union worker.  Oh .. I guess Gettelfinger did sacrifice.  He only gets 20% of General Motors stock and one seat on the board.. not the original 40% offered.

It is gut wrenching to know how desperately the people who truly care about General Motors have been scrambling with a false notion that there is somehow a way yet to keep their company.   It is all in vain. Obama decided a long time ago that the auto companies were his.  He said that much in his campaign speeches.  Was anyone listening?

Goodbye free enterprise….. welcome Obama .. Gettelfinger .. Geithner .. et al.
